The New York-based EDM pop group, The Chainsmokers, had recently released their brand new single “Sick Boy” and its vibe is wonderfully darker than any of their prior work. The Chainsmokers consists of two members, DJ Alex Pall and producer Andrew “Drew” Taggart, who recently started providing vocals to some of their tracks. The group formed in back in 2012, they entered the mainstream music scene when they released their first mega hit single “Roses” back in 2015.
Shortly after that, DJ Alex and Drew continued to evolve and produced more hit singles that become top ten on the charts for weeks. The Chainsmokers’ Grammy Award-winning track “Don’t Let Me Down” which featured the singer and songwriter, Daya, boosted her exposure and quickly made her a favorite among the synthpop crowd.
The Chainsmokers shared that their single “Sick Boy” will be the latest installment of a new era for the DJ duo, after taking a nine-month hiatus from producing music. The tone is darker, and Drew Taggart explained that it was because it was a reflection of our current society and what was going on in their own personal lives. He felt frustrated after feeling somewhat restricted. He was reading things in the media about them, whether they were positive or negative in nature and felt he couldn’t really react. The best possible way was only though creating music. (See: The Chainsmokers New Song Video)
Through social media, Taggart feels that everyone is trying to relate to each other and as a group, they try their best to put themselves out there in their truest form. Sometimes the message is more ‘cryptic’ than intended and people will interpret it interesting ways. The Chainsmokers’ newest single and their next installment of songs will convey what it feels to be alive in today’s society. Find Additional Information Here.
