The Assumption Chapel was built in the aftermath of a severe tornado damaging the previous church. The top structure was built in response to the Grasshopper Plague that resulted in many deaths around Cold Spring. Once the plague was over, the Assumption Chapel was built as a memorial.

The Cathedral of St. Paul is arguably the most famous church in Minnesota. The Cathedral sits on the top of Summit Hill and provides a beautiful scenery of St. Paul. The Cathedral of St. Paul is one of the oldest churches in The United States. The architecture pays tribute to classical churches in Paris during the French Renaissance.
